Vicki O'Leary
Vicki O’Leary is director of diversity for the Ironworkers International Union in Des Plaines, IL. She completed her triple major bachelor’s degree in union leadership and administration, labor education, and labor studies from the National Labor College and obtained her master’s in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. She also is a graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program and the Cornell National Labor Leadership Initiative.
Vicki joined the Ironworkers International in 2016. Since that time, she has assumed the position of chair of the North American Building Trades Union Tradeswomen's Committee. She has been a member of Ironworkers Local #1 in Chicago for more than 30 years. In 2019, she was selected to receive the ENR Award of Excellence for her fight against harassment and for diversity in the 130,000-member Ironworkers International. Vicki conceived the “Be That One Guy Program,” a training effort that includes all ironworkers. The program educates ironworkers on how to deflect or change the tone of a tough situation. She passionately strives for equal opportunity for all ironworkers, one that is free from bullying, harassment, and intimidation.
