Vineet R. Kamat
Vineet Kamat is the John L. Tishman Family Professor of Construction Management and Sustainability, and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Goa University (India) and holds Master’s and PhD degrees from Virginia Tech. He is a pioneer in research on construction automation and robotics.
His research has also resulted in fundamental contributions in the areas of real-time construction monitoring, context-aware infrastructure visualization, construction visualization in geo-referenced augmented reality, and visual simulation of construction processes. Known as a great motivator to his students, Vineet also has held key leadership roles in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), including serving as Chair of the Construction Institute Construction Research Council.
He currently is a board member of the International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction. The ASCE has awarded him its Wellington Prize, Peurifoy Construction Research Award, and Walter Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize as well as the Daniel Halpin Award for Scholarship in Construction. He also has been recognized by the Construction Industry Institute with its Distinguished Professor Award and by Fiatech as Outstanding Researcher.
