Theresa Kern is president of MA Rebar Services, one of Chicago’s largest women-owned subcontracting firms serving the commercial, industrial, heavy, and high-rise construction markets. With the company since 1981, she has supervised the company’s participation in many of Chicago’s largest construction projects. She has three times served as national president of Women Construction Owners & Executives, a national association of women business owners in the construction industry. Theresa was also a director of Associated Steel Erectors and a management trustee of the Structural Iron Workers Local #1 Health & Welfare Fund. She has served on the Chicago Build for Olympics Labor Sub-Committee and on the joint conference board of the construction Employers Association. In 2022, the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority honored her as Contractor of the Year. The Women’s Business Development Center named her Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year. She also is the recipient of the President’s Award from Women Construction Owners & Executives.
