Sam E. Baker, Jr., is senior partner of Oles, Morrison, Rinker & Baker LLP. Sam earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a JD degree from the University of Montana. He was inducted into the University of Washington Hall of Fame in 2006, becoming its first lawyer member. He is the only attorney to have served as director of the Beavers.
In 2012, he was selected by the Beavers to receive its coveted Golden Beaver Award for Service and Supply. His Seattle-based practice involves problem solving in virtually all areas of construction. A former officer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he has always represented contractors in evaluating and resolving disputes. Because he has a degree in building technology and administration as well as being an attorney, Sam has a keen understanding of the technical aspects of construction in applying the law.
He grew up in the construction business and worked on many of his father’s construction company projects in remote sites in Alaska during summers in high school and college. He is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, and skiing. Sam has three grown children and five grandchildren.
