Ron Klemencic
Ron Klemencic is chairman and CEO of Magnusson Klemencic Associates, an award-winning international structural and civil engineering firm headquartered in Seattle, WA. He joined the company, then known as Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire, in 1992 as a senior engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and a master’s in engineering from the University of California-Berkeley.
Ron serves on the board for the Charles Pankow Foundation, is a voting member of many industry committees, and is one of the founders of the research-based Magnusson Klemencic Associates Foundation. He is known for his leadership and advancement of performance-based seismic design (PBSD) of tall buildings, and was recognized with the 2016 Fazlur Khan Lifetime Achievement Medal awarded by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat for his engineering excellence of tall buildings and his leadership of the multi-discipline council. He also received the 2016 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Ernest E. Howard Award for leadership in the application of PBSD methods for tall building structures and the promulgation of this approach throughout the structural engineering profession.
