Ronald L. Skaggs
Ronald L. (Ron) Skaggs is chairman emeritus of HKS, Inc. He is a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University (Class of 1965), where he earned both bachelor and master’s degrees in architecture. He also is an Outstanding Alumnus of Texas A&M College of Architecture.
He has 45 years of experience. He has been actively engaged in over 700 health-related institutions including hospitals, clinics, and mental health and health education facilities. He is a Fellow of and served as president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2000. He is a Registered Architect and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He chaired the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) and is currently vice chancellor of the AIA College of Fellows.
Ron has written numerous articles, is a frequent speaker at industry events, and has been on several boards and committees throughout his long and distinguished career. He is the recipient of the Tau Sigma Delta Silver Medal and the Texas Society of Architects Medal for Lifetime Achievement. Among other awards, he also is a member of the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets Hall of Honor.
Ron is married to Sondra, and they have three sons and three grandchildren.
