Robert S. Peckar
Robert S. (Bob) Peckar has the distinction of being the “Leading Construction Lawyer in the World” seven consecutive years according to the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. He earned his law degree at Columbia University. Robert is a lifelong participant in the construction industry, and created the largest construction law firm in the U.S. He is known for his leadership in promoting alternate dispute resolution (ADR) and dispute prevention in the industry.
In 1978, he joined with Richard Abramson to form Peckar & Abramson. That firm has focused on representing major general contractors and construction management firms for the past 37 years. He has served as general counsel to the New York Building Trades Employers, is general counsel emeritus to the New York Building Congress after 15 years as its general counsel, and was general counsel to the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) from its founding.
He created the Groundbreaking Women in Construction Conference and co-chaired it with ENR for three years, is a board member and financial supporter of the ACE Mentor Program, and is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.
He is married to Maxine, and they have two daughters and six grandchildren.
