Richard Westney
Richard E. (Dick) Westney is founder/director of R/MW Consulting, Inc. His consulting focus is on the energy transition, assisting executives and project teams with implementing strategies for sustainability and resilience. He is the author or co-author of six books on project management, cost, and risk. His latest, The ESG Planning Guide for Energy Projects, was published in March 2023.
Dick has served as visiting faculty for executive programs at Stanford, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, the University of Houston, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and the Moscow School of Management.
Dick began his project management career at Exxon, and, in 1978 founded Westney Consulting Group, a top-tier capital strategy firm that was acquired by McKinsey in 2019.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from City College of New York, a master’s degree in management science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an Executive MBA from Harvard Business School.
He is the recipient of the Award of Merit from the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International, its highest honor.
