Paul C. Schmall
Paul Schmall is a vice president of Keller Specialty Services. He studied at the University of Nottingham and Bucknell University. He was chief engineer of Moretrench for 25 years before being acquired by Keller in 2018. At Keller, he is responsible for the engineering, strategy, and business development of geotechnical construction services, including dewatering, grouting, and ground freezing for underground construction and tunneling.
He has extensive experience with groundwater control, dewatering, emergency response grouting techniques, aquifer pumping tests, fouling of dewatering systems, and forensic investigation and remediation of geotechnical failures related to groundwater. He shares his experience and expertise through frequent seminar and conference presentations, the publication of technical papers, instruction of short courses, and by serving on industry committees. He co-authored the third edition of Construction Dewatering and Groundwater Control, published in 2007. He was recently the president of The Moles. He also has served as an adjunct professor of civil engineering for Manhattan College. He is a member of the executive committee of the Underground Construction Association, a member of the Academy of Geo-Professionals, and a Fellow of ASCE.
