Paul Sarlo is chief operating officer at Joseph M. Sanzari Inc., a heavy and highway construction firm in Hackensack, NJ. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. NJIT awarded an honorary PhD to Paul in 2022. With the firm for 25 years, he has worked with the CEO and a wide range of executives, civil engineers, project managers, administrators, and union tradespeople in a variety of infrastructure projects. Paul is a state senator in New Jersey and his legislative work has included bills that have funded needed infrastructure projects, particularly in transportation across the state. Paul is Professional Engineer and a Professional Planner. The NJ Professional Engineers in Construction have honored him as the Construction Engineer of the Year. NJIT has honored him as an Outstanding Alumnus and inducted him into its Newark College of Engineering Hall of Fame. An All-American baseball player at NJIT, he is a member of the NJIT Athletic Hall of Fame.
