Mitchel W. Simpler
Mitch Simpler is partner emeritus at JB&B. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University. He joined JB&B, a global consulting engineering firm, in 1977 and recently retired after having served as managing partner from 2012-2018. Mitchell’s notable projects include Citigroup’s Headquarters at 388-390 Greenwich Street, 1 and 5 Times Square, the New York Genome Center, and the Rohm & Haas Research Center in Shanghai, China.
He has also managed the design of landmark museums and visual art spaces such as the Brooklyn Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as the TWA Hotel, the reimagination of Eero Saarinen’s landmark TWA terminal at JFK Airport. Mitchell has always balanced professional success with social and humanitarian involvement. He has a longstanding relationship with St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters as well as the Lincoln Hall Boys’ Haven and is actively involved in the Union League Club of New York. He is the former chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies and a founding member of NYC Builds Bio+, an organization dedicated to the life sciences.
