Mark Pestrella
Mark Pestrella is the director of Los Angeles County Public Works. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. Los Angeles County Public Works’ operations include water resources, transportation, environmental services, construction management, and municipal services. It is the largest municipal public works agency in the U.S., providing infrastructure and civic services to more than 10 million people.
He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and is vice chair of its Industry Leaders Council. He currently chairs ASCE’s Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Committee. He is a strong supporter of the inclusion of women in leadership roles at all levels, having served as interim director of the Los Angeles chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar. Mark, who has led the LA County Public Works to be recognized with numerous project awards for excellence, earned the Engineer of the Year Award from the County Engineers Association of California in 2020, recognizing his dedicated 35 years of service to Los Angeles County Public Works. He is a licensed Professional Engineer.
