Michael W. Lowder
Mike Lowder is director of process engineering for Eastman. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from East Tennessee State University. Mike joined Eastman in 1978 and has held many roles including in the areas of process design, plant engineering, capital project management, and operations.
In addition, a considerable part of his career has involved leadership outside of the engineering, construction, and manufacturing arenas. In 2002 he proposed, then formed and led, the Eastman Program Office, which brings project management discipline to key business projects requiring significant change management. In 2007, he helped lead complex and critical Eastman initiatives, such as the integration of two transformational acquisitions: Solutia and Taminco. He also assisted in the early stages of two joint ventures in the Middle East.
The Engineering and Construction Contractors Association (ECC) has been a special passion for Mike. He served on the Board of Directors from 2009 through 2012 and was chair in 2011. He continued with the Executive Advisory Committee through 2018 and now serves on the Past Leaders Council.
