Michael Flowers
Michael D. (Mike) Flowers is retired president and CEO of American Bridge Company, the 115-year-old specialty bridge and marine contractor headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. He earned a civil engineering degree from West Virginia University and holds a master’s in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
His commercial experience includes such projects as the Renaissance Center, Detroit; One Mellon Bank Center, Pittsburgh; and the Riverside Drive Viaduct, New York City. Major bridge projects include, among many, the Williamsburg Suspension Bridge reconstruction, NYC; the new MacArthur Causeway, Miami; and the Self-Anchored Suspension Bridge in San Francisco.
He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ARTBA, CIRT, and sits on the visiting committee for the University of Pittsburgh Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Recognized and honored many times, he received the Golden Beaver Award for Supervision in 2013. In 2014, ASCE recognized him with the Roebling Award for outstanding leadership in construction of the most challenging bridge projects ever attempted by civil engineers in the modern era.
Mike, a fly fisherman and sports fan, has been married to Debrah for 40 years. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
