J. Mike Bellamy
Mike Bellamy is vice president for facilities, campus development, and sustainability at Yale University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Military Institute, a master’s in building construction management from Purdue University, an honorary master’s degree from Yale University, and is an MBA candidate at the University of Iowa. He previously held executive positions for both Kaiser Permanente and the Smithsonian Institution. At the Smithsonian, Mike guided the planning and design of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. After the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, he was responsible for the Cultural Heritage Recovery Center there for the Smithsonian and the Haitian government. These recovery efforts preserved thousands of artworks, artifacts, and rare books. The U.S. Navy recognized him with the Superior Civilian Service Award in 2007 for outstanding achievements over a 23-year career with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. He also has worked with nonprofits to assist at-risk communities in Virginia and refugees from West Africa and Ukraine. Mike is a Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia and a member of ASCE and CMAA.
