Mark J. Perniconi
Mark Perniconi is the retired executive director of the Charles Pankow Foundation. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering and an MBA from Purdue University.
Born and raised in Chicago, his career led him to opportunities in Fresno and Los Angeles, CA, Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA. His career spans over 40 years in the development and construction of public works, commercial, retail, and residential projects. During his tenure at the Charles Pankow Foundation, he refocused the research efforts from a passive funder of research to an initiator and leader of research aligned to strategic-based industry needs. He was responsible for establishing numerous enduring alliances and research funding coalitions with industry groups, public agencies, and private engineers and contractors.
Today, the Charles Pankow Foundation is the acknowledged leader in the U.S in the area of building-centric research. He is a Licensed Civil Engineer and real estate broker. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute and a member of the Civil Engineering Advisory Council at Purdue. Purdue University has honored him with its Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Award.
