Dr. Zorica Pantic, NAC
Former President of Wentworth (2005-2019)
“I had the privilege to work with Mark and ask for his advice many times. He was a wonderful colleague, a caring teacher, and an outstanding expert. Everybody in the construction industry knew his name and had nothing but praise for him. His students adored him and felt privileged to be in his class. He was a positive influence and career builder for many generations. It’s a huge loss - he will be sorely missed.”
Bruce D’Agostino, CAE, FCMAA, NAC
Retired CMAA President & CEO

Don Russell, CCM, FCMAA, NAC
“I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mark for many years. I always enjoyed being invited to come to Wentworth to visit with Mark and to speak with his students. Mark was a true educator, which was made clear by the respect shown him by his students. Like all real educators, Mark inspired his students to learn and grow. Many of those students are leaders in our industry today. Mark was a good friend of mine and our industry. He will be missed.”
Blake V. Peck, PE, CCM, FCMAA, NAC
MBP Chief Executive Officer
“Mark was one of my favorites, and I know he impacted so many in our industry. Not only the scores of CM students he taught but the CM practitioners he worked with on countless initiatives. He was instrumental in creating a strong bond between CMAA and those in CM education. His strong contributions to the CMIT program and its Capstone course are indelible. Mark leaves quite a void for us committed to the profession of construction management.”
Sam Sleiman, PE, CCM, FCMAA, NAC, Hon.D.Eng.
“Mark was a dynamic academic and industry leader who made a significant impact on our industry at large. He accomplished so much in his lifetime and had such a positive influence on the students he taught and the colleagues that were fortunate enough to have worked with him. Everything Mark did in life he did with enthusiasm and integrity, always leaving a tremendous impact. It was an honor to have known and worked with Mark, and he definitely made the world a better place.”
Mae Hasso
Mark’s sister
“We were very blessed and are proud of him as a member of our family. He was the heart and soul of the family, he was a faithful person, who cared about others, always generous with his time, committed and ready to help when needed. His colleagues, friends, and students described him as “a true gentleman and human being, generous loving friend, lucky to have touched him in their lives, and his passing will leave a hole in their heart, and one of the highest caliber people they have met.”
In addition to being an academic leader, Mark served his community in many ways, especially for persons with special needs. He served as a board member on the Seven Hills Foundation for 28 years, which cares for people who have the ability to thrive when given support, respect, and dignity. Mark was a former Trustee of Anna Maria College, as well as a long term member of the Southborough Rotary Club. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed playing scrabble and chess.
Mark Hasso was an outstanding educator, industry colleague, and more importantly dear friend. He was loved and will be sorely missed by so many students, professors, industry colleagues, and his devoted and loving family.
Christine Keville, FCMAA, NAC, Hon.D.Eng.
