Maria Lehman
Maria Lehman is director, U.S. infrastructure for GHD, a global professional services company. She received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo, magna cum laude. She serves on the GHD U.S. Board of Directors. She was the former COO and acting executive director of the New York State Thruway Authority and previously served as Commissioner of Public Works for Erie County, NY. She has 40 years of diverse, multi-disciplinary technical and leadership experience in traditional and alternative delivery. She has served as principal-in-charge, project executive, program and project manager, and project engineer on hundreds of projects, which required everything from scoping, planning, environmental studies, preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates, construction management, and operations and maintenance. Her many awards include the ASCE President’s Medal, SUNY at Buffalo Engineering Alumna of the Year, and Buffalo Business First Top 100 Women of Influence. Maria is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states. She is currently the national president-elect of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
