Mohamed Al-Hussein
Mohamed Al-Hussein is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He also has master’s and PhD degrees from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He is the former director of the Nasseri School of Building Science and Engineering at the University of Alberta. Mohamed has made outstanding contributions to research and education in modular and offsite construction. He founded and organized the Modular and Offsite Construction Summit, a global conference that annually draws attendees from more than 20 countries representing both academia and industry. His research focuses on the development of industrialized construction methods.
The International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction recognized him with its Tucker-Hasegawa Award in 2023 for distinguished contributions to the field of automation and robotics in construction. He has also been mentoring a new generation of leaders in academia and industry at a prolific rate since joining the University of Alberta in 2001.
