Luis F. Alarcón
Luis Alarcón is a professor of civil engineering and associate dean of extension and technology transfer at the Catholic University of Chile. He currently serves as president of the consulting services branch of the university.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Catholic University of Chile and two masters and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He served as visiting professor at both The Ohio State University and Stanford University. He has been an advisor to the U.S. State Department on evaluating and selecting strategies for the modernization of U.S. embassies around the world.
Luis has been honored many times, is internationally recognized for his work and his research, and is a member of the Panamerican Academy of Engineering. He is a founding member of the International Group for Lean Construction and served on the board of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction. He is the author of Planning and Control of Projects, and co-authored Lean Construction. His greatest impact on the industry has been made though his startup companies and the hundreds of engineers that they employ.
