K. N. Gunalan
Guna Gunalan is senior vice president, transportation alternative delivery, at AECOM. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s of engineering in soil mechanics and foundation engineering in India. He holds a PhD in civil engineering from Texas Tech University. He has served in numerous capacities in small, medium, and large multi-national firms. His experience includes project management of large complex infrastructure projects on both the owner and contractor sides, business plans, marketing, client relations, and alternate delivery options. His expertise is in the areas of risk management, contract negotiations, QA/QC, training, ethics, strategic planning, and civil/geotechnical/pavement/materials engineering. He currently is president of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He served as chair of the ASCE 2014 Annual Conference and Global Engineering Conference in Panama City, Panama. In 2016, he received the ASCE Professional Practice, Ethics, and Leadership Award. Texas Tech University’s College of Engineering recognized him as a Distinguished Engineer in 2019.
