King W. Gee
King W. Gee is director of engineering and technical services for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The son of Chinese immigrants, his construction roots stretch back to his parents’ homeland, where his ancestors were construction contractors. King had a successful 35-year career with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). His work for the highway administration took him to all 50 states and 35 countries.
Two particular achievements there were the development of multidisciplinary approaches to project acceleration and the establishment of requirements for project management and financial management plans for all major highway projects nationwide. He twice was recognized at the FHWA with the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award for his leadership and accomplishments. He also is the recipient of the Secretary of Transportation Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals for Exceptional, Meritorious, and Superior Achievement, and the Road Gang Lester P. Lamm Award for leadership and dedication to highway programs.
King enjoys Sunday School teaching and mentoring young married couples. He and Florence have three grown children, all of whom were married recently within an eleven-month period.
