Keith Roe
Kenneth K. (Keith) Roe joined Burns & Roe in 1971 and became president and CEO of Burns & Roe Enterprises in 1985. He served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1971 on a destroyer home ported first at Norfolk and then Pearl Harbor. Prior to the Navy, Keith earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton and both an engineer degree and an MS in Nuclear Engineering from MIT. He is a Registered Engineer in nine states and Puerto Rico.
Keith has been a tireless worker in professional societies, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), serving as its 135th President, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), American Nuclear Society, FIATECH, and the Construction Industry Institute (CII). He has held many offices in the Boy Scouts of America, in his church, and served on the Board of Trustees of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital. He is a past member of the advisory committee for Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University and the Visiting Committee for the Nuclear Engineering Dept at MIT.
Keith and Elizabeth (Brownie) have been married for 46 years and have four grown children and nine grandchildren, all in the New England area. His hobbies include golf, tennis, skiing, woodworking, photography, motorcycle touring, classical music and operas, and boating near their house in Nantucket. He and Brownie also have traveled extensively.
