Kenneth Arnold
Kenneth (Ken) Arnold is a senior technical advisor at both WorleyParsons and Oxy Oil & Gas. He also maintains his own consulting firm, KACI. He earned a BS in civil engineering at Cornell University and a master’s at Tulane University. Ken is a major contributor to the design and operation of offshore and onshore oil production systems, is the co-author of two facilities design textbooks, and has written more than 50 articles on safety, project management, and facilities design.
He began his career at Shell Oil in 1964 and founded Paragon Engineering Services in 1980. Elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2005, Ken has served as treasurer, vice president, and president of the Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas. He is the editor of the SPE Petroleum Engineering Handbook volume on facilities and construction, and has taught facilities engineering at the University of Houston as well as at Technion University, Israel. In 2013, Ken received the Offshore Technology Conference Award for Distinguished Individual Achievement.
Ken grew up in the Bronx, New York, and was fascinated by the numerous bridges nearby. This inspired him to become a civil engineer. He is married to Ruth, and they have six children and ten grandchildren.
