Joseph Malandro
Joe Malandro is the retired president and chief operating officer of E. E. Cruz
& Company, Inc., a heavy civil construction contractor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Newark College of Engineering.
He joined the company in 1985 as project manager for the reconstruction of six bridges on Route 287 in New Jersey. Following several executive positions, he became president of the company in 2007 and helped the firm take on increasingly complex and challenging work, succeed in recruiting and developing outstanding talent, and grow annual volume of work from $40 million to $200 million. His company was the first contractor engaged for the World Trade Center Memorial and Foundation in 2006, which led to over $325 million in new work over a five-year period. At the same time, he took on contracts for the Second Avenue Subway―96th Street Station, which opened weeks ahead of its originally planned opening.
Joe, a Licensed Engineer in NJ and NY, is past president of The Moles and a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers. He credits his success to his loving and supportive family and the many hardworking men and women who have worked alongside him during his 47-year career.
