Brewer

Joseph C. Brewer, Jr., is a retired Vice President and Sadara Chief Implementation Officer, Dow Chemical. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (magna cum laude) from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. During his 37-year career at Dow, he has served in a multitude of engineering, management, and executive roles: design engineer, project engineer, design section manager, engineering manager of continental operations, company project manager in The Netherlands, and as president of Dow Engineering Company. He has experience domestically and internationally, including Dow’s EQUATE joint venture in Kuwait, a $4 billion expansion project, and the $20 billion Sadara Chemical Program, the largest chemical plant ever constructed in a single phase. Sadara is a joint venture of Saudi Aramco and Dow in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

He is a contributing author to the Dow Global Project Methodology, which has led Dow to be a top quintile performer in the IPA Industry Benchmarking Consortium. He was nominated for Dow’s Genesis Award for outstanding corporate people leadership in 2006. He is the author of the book When Mega Goes GIGA which tells the story of the record-setting Sadara project.

Joseph has been married to his wife, Sandy, for 42 years. They have three daughters and seven grandchildren. He enjoys playing golf, fishing, and studying genealogy. The couple lives in Katy, TX.
