Jon D. Magnusson
Jon D. Magnusson, is senior principal at Magnusson Klemencic Associates (MKA), which has projects in 46 states and 53 countries. He actively led MKA’s technical and business direction, and has served as a principal, chairman, and in addition has been CEO for 25 years.
Jon has been the structural engineer-in-charge for over $4.5 billion of construction, including high-rise buildings, sports stadiums, large scale mixed-use developments, and signature convention centers. His work has been recognized with an honorary membership in the American Institute of Architects and a Designer Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction. Jon, with deep family roots in construction, has also been honored by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) with its Ernest E. Howard Award, as a Distinguished Member, and as the recipient of an Outstanding Projects and Leadership (OPAL) Award for Design.
The American Association of Engineering Societies recognized Jon with the John Fritz Medal. He founded and was president for 14 years of the ACE Mentor Program of Washington, and has served as president of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington and the ASCE Foundation.
Jon and Nancy have been married for 40 years. They have two sons and a daughter and three grandchildren.
