Welch

John F. Welch is president of CNA Surety Corporation, which is based in Chicago, IL. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Purdue University and an MBA from DePaul University. He also is a Certified Public Accountant and fluent in Spanish.

John joined CNA as its leader in 2003, and has more than 38 years’ experience in the surety industry. CNA presently is the fourth largest surety company in the U.S. It provides surety and fidelity bonds in all 50 states and in Puerto Rico and Canada through a combined network of 40,000 agencies and agents. He previously held positions of increasing responsibility at United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company, the St. Paul Companies, and Afianzadora Insurgentes, a previously owned subsidiary of the St. Paul Companies based in Mexico City.

John is a board member of the Surety Association of America and serves on the executive committee of the board. He has been honored many times, including by the National Surety of Bond Producers with a Tiger Trust Award. CNA has been recognized by the Small Business Administration as the U.S. Small Business Surety of the Year. John has two daughters and resides in Wheaton, IL.
