Schaufelberger

John Schaufelberger is professor and dean of the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington, where he currently is providing leadership, experience, and knowledge to the students, faculty, and industry. He previously served 30 years in the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and was an assistant professor in the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho and a master’s and PhD in civil engineering from the University of Illinois.

John is an author of five textbooks that are widely used among the 90 universities that are a part of the Associated Schools of Construction. He also is active in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), NAWIC, and the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). He has received numerous awards in recognition for his contributions to the industry from the U.S. Army, the University of Washington, and the Puget Sound Engineering Council.

John, a native of Idaho, enjoys many outdoor activities including fly fishing, hiking, and gardening.
