Dalton Sr.

John W. Dalton, Sr., retired in 2015 from the Wood Group Mustang as executive vice president. He then re-established his consulting company, The Dalton Group. Previously, he spent 24 years with Bechtel. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business technology and a graduate degree in construction management from the University of Houston.

John is a past chair of both the Engineering and Contracting (ECC) Association and the Construction Industry Institute (CII). He received both Carroll H Dunn Award of Excellence and the Richard L. Tucker Leadership and Service Award from CII. He also is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from ECC. He was a principal leader in the National Academy of Construction’s National Construction Forum.

John has worked tirelessly to introduce more applicable process industry courses to university curricula, especially on including CII Best Practices materials. He was instrumental in getting the process and industrial construction management degree put in place at the University of Houston, representing the first of its kind in the nation. He is the past advisory board chairman of UH’s College of Technology. In 2017 he was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Houston. He has served as an advisory board member to The University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University, The University of Houston and Texas A&M University.

John and Lisa have five children and eight grandchildren. They enjoy spending time with family, traveling, and working with a number of charity organizations.
