Joan M. Miller
Joan Miller is retired senior vice president, oil, gas, and chemicals, at CH2M. She holds a bachelor’s degree with highest distinction from Purdue University. She is an exemplary engineer and global leader and is well-known in both the federal and private sectors for her strategic vision and ingenious industrial process solutions.
Notably, she was responsible for the $700 million annual Rocky Flats Nuclear Waste Clean Up Program for the Department of Energy and numerous other Super Fund sites for the Environmental Protection Agency. In the EPA projects, she developed innovative contracting strategies to accelerate planning, approval, and execution. In addition, Joan is exceptional in her efforts to career coach women in engineering.
She gives freely of her time to provide university lectures, speeches, and published papers to motivate young women in construction. In 2010, she received the Purdue Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award. The award is based on leadership, societal contributions, and success. She served on the board of the Women’s Vision Foundation, on the executive board of directors of the Engineering and Construction Contracting Association, and is a board member emeritus for The Leadership Investment.
