James G. Slaughter Jr.
James G. (Jimmy) Slaughter, Jr., is president of S&B Engineers & Constructors, Ltd. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Houston. He became active in industry research and project improvement efforts soon after S&B joined the Construction Industry Institute (CII) in 1991.
Jimmy chaired the CII research team that developed both the Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) and CII’s alignment tools. It was a landmark achievement—for CII and for the industry. He chaired the CII Strategic Planning Committee twice. He is the principal author of CII’s Vision 2020 document. His and others’ support led to CII’s establishing the Fiatech consortium in 2000.
He is past president of the National Academy of Construction, and also is a past president of the Houston Area Contractors Safety Council. He has been honored by CII with both the Carroll H. Dunn Award of Excellence and the Richard L. Tucker Leadership and Service Award.
Jimmy and his wife, Shirley, live in Pearland, TX.
