James H. Roberts
James H. (Jim) Roberts is the director, president, and CEO of Granite Construction Incorporated. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of California-Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
Jim joined Granite as an estimator in 1981. His previous service to associations includes director with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, chair of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), president of the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), member of the Nevada Chapter of the Young President’s Organization, and chair of the Boy Scouts of America Monterey Bay Area Council Friends of Scouting.
He is currently on the board of directors and membership committee of the Beavers, a member of The Moles, a member of the Cal Poly President’s Council of Advisors, board member of the Construction Industry Round Table (CIRT), founding member of Construction Industry Ethics & Compliance Initiative (CIECI), trustee emeritus of the University of Nevada-Reno Foundation, and a member of the University of Nevada-Reno Foundation College of Engineering Advisory Board.
He and his wife, Tami, currently reside in Carmel Valley, CA, and have raised three daughters. Jim and his family enjoy riding and showing Arabian horses.
