James A. Rispoli
James A. (Jim) Rispoli is a professor of practice at North Carolina State University, with a focus in construction management at the university’s Center for Nuclear Facilities and Structures. Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Manhattan College, a master’s in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire, and a master’s in business from Central Michigan University.
He is a retired Navy captain, having served in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps, in the Seabees, and as officer in charge of construction. From 2005-2008, he was Assistant Secretary of Energy and led a $6 billion annual program that included the DOE’s largest construction projects. He is past president and CEO of Project Time & Cost LLC and serves as the group’s senior executive advisor to U.S. and UK clients.
He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), served on the ASCE Board of Directors, and is the recipient of three national ASCE awards. He also is a Fellow of the Society of Military Engineers (SAME) and a former SAME national vice president. He has published and lectured internationally and in the U.S.
Jim and wife, Carol, have two children, Christina and Joseph. They also have five grandchildren.
