Jim Murphy
Jim Murphy is the chairman of Murphy Co. in St. Louis, MO. He earned bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and in American studies at Yale University.
From 1966-2005, Jim led his company in accepting, adopting, and refining the management processes and technological aspects of construction. Murphy Company is one of the leading mechanical contractors in the U.S. today.
Jim has served in a number of capacities in industry associations, including recently as president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA). He also has been active in the Construction Industry Institute. He has rendered devoted service as a leader promoting continuous improvement in the American construction industry, particularly in employee safety and in tri-partite labor relations through the National Maintenance Agreement Policy Committee. Jim was recently honored with the MCAA Distinguished Service Award, the association’s highest honor.
