Joseph Albanese
Joe Albanese is the founder and CEO of Commodore Builders, a construction management/general contracting firm in Waltham, MA. He earned a degree in civil engineering from UMass Lowell and an MBA from Boston University.
As a U.S. Navy officer, he provided leadership to Navy Seabees throughout Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the Horn of Africa in 2007. He retired from the Navy as a captain after 28 years of military service. In 2018, Joe was appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts as Chief Recovery Officer, leading disaster recovery and restoration efforts following the September gas line explosions impacting three municipalities in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts. “A Better City” presented Joe with the Norman B. Leventhal Award for Infrastructure in recognition of his leadership and accomplishments during the Merrimack Valley Gas Recovery. In 2019, Caritas Communities presented Joe the P. Leo Corcoran Humanitarian Award recognizing leadership, philanthropy, and support to those less fortunate.
A registered Professional Engineer, Joe is a member of the UMass Lowell James B. Francis Academy of Distinguished Engineers and the UMass Lowell Alumni Military Hall of Fame.
