Howard B. Stussman
Howard B. Stussman is past chief editor of ENR magazine and an award-winning journalist. ENR often is referred to as the “voice of the engineering and construction industry.”
Under Howard, ENR was acclaimed for its reporting on the growth and impact of legal, labor, and financial issues as well as the open shop movement. He led or personally covered stories such as the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island, Three Gorges Dam, the Channel Tunnel, and numerous other landmark construction events and projects. At ENR for more than 35 years, Howard worked with such professional industry groups as the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the Build America Coalition, the Construction Industry Institute (CII), the Construction Innovation Forum, the Design-Build Institute of America, and many others.
He has lectured at universities at home and abroad, including MIT, Harvard, Columbia, the University of Tokyo, and the University of Wurzburg. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Seabees. His service awards include the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Insignia, with “V” and two bronze stars, Presidential and Navy Unit Citations, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm.
Howard and Barbara have one son and now live in Colorado.
