Heather L. Wishart-Smith
Heather Wishart-Smith is an innovation strategist and business leader in managing and turning around large engineering, consulting, and professional services practices. She holds bachelor and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Virginia. She previously served as the senior vice president, technology & innovation, for Jacobs. A former navy civil engineer corps officer, she served at the Presidential Retreat, Camp David, among other duty stations during two Presidential administrations. Heather is a Fellow of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and served as the SAME national president during its centennial year. She also is Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Early on at Jacobs, she led innovation and digital strategy for Jacobs’ Buildings, Infrastructure, and Advanced Facilities, a $7B, 35,000 person global business. In 2013, she was recognized by ENR as a “Top 20 Under 40” Mid-Atlantic Top Young Professionals. In 2018, she received the SAME Gerald C. Brown Mentoring Award. She has published and presented articles in various publications on leadership, architecture, engineering, and construction topics and is currently a regular Forbes magazine contributor.
