Veronique "Ronnie" Hakim
Ronnie Hakim is senior vice president at HNTB, based in New York City. She recently retired as the managing director of the New York Mass Transit Authority (MTA). She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Rochester and holds a law degree from Pace University, White Plains, New York.
She is a member of the bar in New York State, Federal Court-Eastern District. At the New York MTA, she was responsible for leading more than 70,000 employees in five operating agencies, overseeing transit systems that carry nine million riders each day. She also was responsible for promoting the 2015-2019 $32.5 billion MTA capital program. Her executive leadership experience also includes serving as president of MTA New York City Transit, executive director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, and executive director of New Jersey Transit, the nation’s third largest operator of buses, rail, and light rail transit.
She has been recognized as an industry leader by the American Public Transportation Association, American Council of Engineering Companies, Women’s Transportation Seminar, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, the General Contractors Association of New York, Women Builders Council, the Alliance for Action, and the Subcontractors Trade Association.
