Gregs G. Thomopulos
Gregs G. Thomopulos is chairman emeritus of Stanley Consultants. He holds a bachelor’s degree (with highest distinction) in civil engineering from the University of Kansas and a master’s in structural engineering and structural mechanics from the University of California-Berkeley. He also holds honorary doctorates from the University of Iowa and Teikyo Marycrest University.
Gregs joined Stanley Consultants in 1968 and was elected president of the firm in 1987. In 1998, he became CEO and served in that role until 2012. During his 46-year career with Stanley, he has been involved with many projects with construction costs over $1 billion. He has played a significant role in consulting engineering through his involvement with American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, serving as chairman and president, respectively, of these organizations. Gregs is the recipient of the University of Kansas School of Engineering Distinguished Engineering Service Award; the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Iowa; and the 2011 Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Lifetime Achievement in Management Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). ENR selected him as its “21st Century World Citizen” in 2004.
