George J. Pierson
George J. Pierson is non-executive director of WSP Global. He was president and CEO of Parsons Brinckerhoff, which was acquired by WSP in 2014. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School (cum laude), an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California, a master’s in civil engineering from the University of California-Berkeley, and a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Bucknell University (summa cum laude).
George came to Parsons Brinckerhoff from the Peckar & Abraham law firm, where he was partner and director. From 1992-2002, George held a variety of posts in Kværner (and its predecessor, Davy McKee), including executive vice president, general counsel, and also as legal director of the engineering, technology, and construction division. He oversaw 14,000 professionals in Parsons Brinckerhoff’s 150 offices on five continents. He joined the firm in 2006 as general counsel and secretary.
He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and a lawyer. He is a member of The Moles, on the membership committee of the American College of Construction Lawyers, and a member of the NY Building Congress Board of Directors. George contributes to many industry improvement organizations, established the Engineering Success Alliance, a mentoring program at Bucknell, and is on the national board of the ACE Mentoring Program.
