George O. Lea, Jr.
George O. Lea JR (Retired) U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chief of the Military Engineering Branch. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University, a master’s in secondary education from Old Dominion University, and a master’s certificate in leadership from the Darden Business School, the University of Virginia. At USACE, he had direct influence on programs and projects valued at $25 billion annually. George is a recognized leader in the engineering and construction industry, and served as chief facility advisor to the superintendent of the D.C. Public Schools and to the Director of the National Park Service. He also served as chief engineer of the Washington Area Metro Transit Authority and the Pentagon Renovation Program. He has been recognized many times for his leadership and service, including the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award and the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award. He was named Person of the Year by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), where is a member of the College of Fellows. A former naval aviator, he also is a professional engineer and certified construction manager. George lives in McLean, VA, with his wife, Marilena, and their son, Andrew.
