Eric S. Waterman
Eric S. Waterman is the former CEO of the Ironworkers Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT). His career of nearly 50 years includes two extremely important positions: founding CEO of IMPACT and director and vice president of the National Erectors Association (NEA). While at NEA, Eric created the NEA Craftsman Award for Ingenuity and Innovation in Construction, the first award to recognize craft workers for innovative productivity, ingenuity, and safety and health programs.
At IMPACT, he spearheaded the creation of the Contractor College and the IMPACT Safety and Health Roundtable. In 2002, ENR named him as one of the Top 25 Newsmakers of the Year for the NEA/Iron Workers/OSHA National Training Partnership. Eric has produced four nationally recognized and award-winning videos that focus on workplace safety, promoting apprenticeship programs in construction, and workers comp reform. He served as a member of the U.S. Department of Labor OSHA Steel Erection Rulemaking Advisory Committee from 1999-2001.
He is an active member and advocate for the American Society of Safety Engineers. In 2016, the Eric S. Waterman Scholarship was established to help sons and daughters of ironworker members of IMPACT. The scholarship provides funding and encourages the pursuit of a construction industry related degree.
