Eric L. Keen
Eric Keen is chair, the past CEO, and chairs the board of directors of HDR in Omaha, NE. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa. A 31-year veteran of the company, he joined HDR in 1993 in the firm’s Alaska office and helped establish HDR’s transportation alternative delivery practice. He has helped HDR deliver some of the most notable U.S. transportation infrastructure projects, including the Whittier Access project in Prince William Sound, AK, the Legacy Parkway project in Salt Lake City, UT, and the world-renowned Hoover Dam Bypass. In the early 2000s, he oversaw several acquisitions across the United States, Canada, and Australia, which expanded the firm’s capabilities and helped double the company’s size. In 2012, he led the creation of the HDR Foundation, an employee-funded and administered charitable giving organization that benefits the communities where the firm’s employees live and work. In 2019, the University of Iowa College of Engineering inducted him into its Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy. A member of ASCE, Eric is a Registered Engineer in five states.
