J. Stuart Eckblad
Stuart Eckblad is the vice president, major capital projects, for University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) Health. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kent State and a master’s in environmental design from the University of Wisconsin. He currently leads project delivery for the multi-year $2 billion new hospital at Parnassus Heights and the development of the Block 34 Clinical Building at Mission Bay in San Francisco, CA.
He was the lead for the $1.5 billion UCSF Mission Bay Hospitals project, which opened in 2014 at $100 million under budget. This project received the 2017 Vista Award for exceptional team performance and excellence in the health care design and construction environment.
Stuart has focused most of his career developing collaborative and integrated alternative delivery methods for healthcare projects. He is a leader in IPD for private and public healthcare projects. Stuart is a Licensed Architect, a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects, and founder and president of The Center for Innovation in the Design and Construction Industry (CIDCI), which is an organization created for owners, designers, and builders to accelerate the awareness and adoption of innovative processes, tools, and invention in the industry.
