Douglas Omichinski
Doug Omichinski recently retired as a principal vice president and manager of construction and functions for Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology global business unit in Reston, VA. He studied at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and the University of Alberta. With Bechtel since 1981, he had progressive assignments beginning with field engineering and supervisory positions to executive management positions over his 43 years with the firm.
Doug’s U.S. projects for Bechtel included assignments in Kentucky and Colorado. His international experience includes projects in Norway, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Australia. He twice led projects that Bechtel recognized as Construction Project of the Year. His involvement with the Construction Industry Institute includes significant work in advanced work packaging research. He chaired the CII Executive Committee in 2021. CII recognized him with the prestigious Richard L. Tucker Leadership and Service Award this past summer. Doug is a Certified Construction Manager, a Project Management Professional, and a LEED Green Associate. The American Institute of Constructors honored him with the Walter Nashbert, Sr., Constructor Award in 2012.
