Denise M. Richardson
Denise Richardson is executive director of The General Contractors Association (GCA) of New York, Inc. She holds a bachelor’s degree (with honors) in economics and government from Simmons College and a master’s in public affairs and urban planning from Princeton University. She oversees labor relations for 13 construction unions, negotiates collective bargaining agreements, and serves as employer trustee managing $10 billion in pension, annuity, welfare, and training programs.
Before joining the GCANY, Denise served as deputy commissioner of the NY City Department of Environmental Protection, as assistant chief procurement officer for the NY Metropolitan Transit Authority, and in other executive roles within city and state offices. She is a recognized industry leader and has worked effectively with numerous transportation, planning, construction, and waterfront groups to make significant contributions in work processes, safety, relationships, communication, and education.
Influential in NY, Denise also has served the national interests as chair of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) Council of State Executives. She is active in civic engagements, serves on numerous boards, and was recently recognized with both the City & State Labor and Law Award and the Helmets to Hardhats Patriot Award.
