Don Bergman
Don Bergman is the Senior Vice President and Project Director of Major Projects at COWI North America, based in Vancouver, British Columbia. He holds a Civil Engineering degree with honors from the University of British Columbia. Throughout his career, Don has worked advancing through the specialty bridge engineering practice as a Designer, Lead Engineer and Project Director, demonstrating his expertise in bridge engineering and construction. Don has worked with a wide variety of bridge forms and project delivery models. Much of his experience has been in the design and construction of long span bridges, particularly cable-stayed bridges. He has led the design of several major cable-stayed bridges in North America, including the Golden Ears Bridge near Vancouver and the Governor Mario M. Cuomo (Tappan Zee) Bridge over the Hudson River. Internationally, Don was a lead for the design of the Rama VIII Bridge in Bangkok, Thailand, and the main towers for Stonecutters Bridge, as well as the construction engineering for Ting Kau Bridge, both in Hong Kong. Don is a Fellow in the International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineers, has written and presented on bridges both nationally and internationally and has taught courses on the design and construction of cable-stayed bridges.
