Denise M. Berger
Denise Berger is Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer of the U.S. East & Latin America Region of AECOM. She earned a bachelor of architecture degree, cum laude, from New York Institute of Technology. Her position at AECOM includes responsibility for her region’s strategic planning, operations, marketing and branding, digital transformation and sustainable legacies. She previously was the Chief of Operations for the engineering department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), where she oversaw key strategic priorities, enterprise-wide engineering initiatives, expansion of integrated project delivery, and use of design-build as the Port Authority’s prime contracting strategy.
In 2016, she founded the PANYNJ’s Women’s Council to empower and advance women in leadership roles. She is a Fellow to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Denise currently is a board member of the Women’s Builders Council and serves on the advisory board of NYIT School of Architecture & Design. She also is a member of the Board of Directors of the ACE Mentor Program and is a director for both the Professional Women in Construction and the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) International. In 2019, WTS’ Greater New York Chapter named her Woman of the Year. In 2024, she was named Top 30 leaders in NY. Denise and Andrew have two children, Jordan and Olivia. She loves gardening, Italian cooking, travel, hiking, and spending time with the family.
