Robert K. Dawson
The Honorable Robert K. Dawson is president of Dawson & Associates, founded in 1998. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University, which he attended on a football scholarship. He also holds a JD degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar. He has held senior positions at the White House, the Defense Department, and on Capitol Hill that have given him a deep understanding of the federal budget and regulatory processes in the water resource and environmental arenas.
A former associate director of the Office of Management and Budget, Bob oversaw budget and policy for about one-fourth of the Federal budget, including the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Energy, and Interior; the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; the EPA; TVA; and several other departments. He previously served as the U.S. Army Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Works and subsequently the Assistant Secretary, a position that required U.S. Senate confirmation. During Bob’s service, he led a successful reform of the Corps of Engineers’ selection and funding processes for its water projects and a significant reform of the Corps’ complex regulatory program.
